The card comprises as formerly 14 events, and appears to have been carefully complied. The progres-. sive policy of. the Club is still a conspicuous note, and the total amount for stakes is 1530 sovs; an increase on the amount donated at the last corresponding meeting. On the first da,y the Empire Hurdles of 100 sovs, one mile and a-half, opens the bill of fare, the Tokaralii Welter, 100 sovs, minimum weight Bst, seven furlongs; Trial Plate, 50 sovs, open to two-year-olds and upwards that have not won a race exceeding 30 sovs in value at time of entry (special weights), four furlongs; Oamaru Cup, 300 sovs; one mile; Waiareka Handicap, 100 sovs (hack conditions), minimum weight 7st 71b, six furlongs; RailwayHandicap, 50 sovs, for horses that have not won an advertised flat race exceeding 30 sovs in value at time of nomination, live furlongs; Stewards' Handicap, 150 sovs, distance six furlongs (in place of five as formerly), complete the first day's card. '

On, the second day the Waikanra Hurdles, 100 sovs, one mile and threequarters, is the opening event, followed by the Parkside Welter, 100 sovs (minimum weight 7st 71b), seven furlongs; The Shorts, 50 sovs (open to two-year-olds and upwards that have not won a race exceeding 30 sovs in value at time of starting; special weights), distance five furlongs; Victoria Handicap, 150 sovs, one mile; Redcastle Handicap, 110 sqvs (hack conditions), six furlongs; Pukeuri Handicap, 50 sovs, same conditions as Railway Handicap, four furlongs ; and the Members' Handicap, 130 sovs, distance five furlongs, brings down the curtain for the Club's 1909-10 season.

J Referring to the Oamaru Cup we note that* the Club have again decided to donate a cup to the winner of this event, and judging by the remarks made in the past by-those owners who have won these trophies, we think the Committee are wise in continuing to- add a piece of plate to the principal event. Entries for all "events (other than the Trial Plate and Shorts) close on April 28th, the handicaps being declared after the Ashburton meeting on May 14th, while acceptances for tbe first .dav, together with entries for the Trial and Shorts, close ' Thursday, 19th May, at 9p.m.
