NORTH OTAGO JOCKEY CLUB
At a committee meeting of the North Ota go Jockey Club, held yesterday, Mr A. Potter (vice"-president) in the chair, the Club's programme for the winter meeting (May 22nd and 24th) was passed as follows : First Dav.—Waikaura Hurdles, 100 sovs. one mik- "and a-half; Tokarahi Welter (open), 100 sovs, six furlongs: Trial Plate, 6G sovs, four furlongs: Oamaru. Cup, 300 sovs, one mile; Waiareka Hack Handicap, 100 sovs. six furlongs; Railway .Handicap (for horses that have not. won a race exceeding 50 sovs in value), 60 sovs, five furlongs; Stewards' Handicap, 130 sovs, .live furlongs. Second Day.—Empire Hurdles, 100 soys, one and 'three-quarters mile; Parkside Welter (open), 100 sovs, seven furlongs: The Shorts. 60 sovs. five furlongs; Victoria Handicap, 150 sovs, one mile; Redcastlc Hack. 100 sovsj five furlongs: Pukeuri Handicap (same conditions "as Railway Handicap), 60 sovs. four furlongs; Members' Handicap, 100 sovs, five furlongs. The total amount for stakes is 1520 sovs, against 1430 sovs at the last May fixture. Mr L. C. Hazlett (Dunedin) was appointed starter, and Mr W 7 . Gardiner, jun., timekeeper. Mr R, M. French was appointed to the. vacancy on the committee caused by the retirement of Mr C Christie. The meeting decided to nominate Mr J. Latham (Gore) and Mr G. M. Procter as delegates to represent the Otago country clubs on the IXew Zealand Racing Conference. The question of conveying passengers to and from the railway gates and grandstand enclosure "was referred to a subcommittee with power to act.
