G. l , »w»l> (Minister of Health), l)r Mason (Llnef Health Officer), the Hon. l)r Collins, M.L.C., and other representatives of the medical profession at the Town Hall this afternoon. The gathering, which was held under the auspices of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, was to further the movement inaugurated by I)r Truby King for the protection ot infant life. It was decided to call the nurses employed by the Wellington Society "Lady Plunket nurses," in honor of her'Kxcolleucy Lady Plunket, who is taking such a keen interest and an active, part in the furthering of the objects ot the Society. Ladv Plunket addressed the meeting, urging the need for the improved feeding of infants and the better attention to mot hers and prospective mothers. I>rs Mason. Collins. Young, and the Hon. G. Fowlds also delivered addresses, the doctors pointing out that a large proportion of infantile mortality is prevcntiblc, being due to improper feeding and ignorance generally on the part of the mot hers.
