- The monthly meeting of the committee of the alx>ve was held yesterday afternoon. lVesent—Mr A. Frase'r <\ice-pTesident, in the chair). IT. Meek. W. H. Rose, R. Mllligan, J. Maitland Jones. An apology for absence was received from Mr Steenson. Minutes of previous meeting and of a special meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was received from the Prime Minister stating; that tlie matter of access to Holmes WhaTf by way of Wansbeck street was still under consideration by the railwav department. With regaid to the effort being made to get the quantity of bales of wool (50CO) necessary before buyers -would consent to include Oamaru in their itinerary. Mr Rose stated that a canvasser was now lieing employed, and he was pleased to say that so far over 4GCO bales had been promised, and there was every possibility of getting a • few hundred more before the canvass closed. He considered it was a little hte now, and said that probably when the next ■season's itinerary was made up they would find that Oamaru had been left out in the cold. Still the Auctioneers' Association were going to further pursue the matter. Mr J. Maitland Jones was re-appointed the Chamber's representative on the "reard of Managers of the Oamaru Technical Classes Association. In reply to a communication from the Chamber suggesting the holding of a conference to discuss the railway bye-laws legulating the weight of comsacks, the secretary read correspondence from the Christchurch. Timaru. and Invevcvrgill Chambers approving of the suggestion., and naming their delegates. were fts follow-. : Christchurch—Messrs A. Page, H. Wood, and F. G. Horrell;. Timaru—Messrs Newman, White. Turner, and Young; Invereargjll—Mr Thomas Fleming. Tlie Dunedin Chamber wired regretting that so far it liad been unable to secure a, delegate. Details in connection; with the conference were arranged, and the committee adjourned.
