DUNEDIN MARKETS,

The Sew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report as follows for the week ending April 19 Fat Cattle. —204 were yarded, fully one half being stores, the balance fair to prime. For all prime bidding was spirited, and prices ruled at about equal_ to _ late rates, while for medium and inferior it was ditfcult to get a bid. Best bullocks, LBto L 9; good, L 6 10s to L 7 15s ; best heifers, L 5 to L 6 ; cows, L 3 to L 4 ; prime beef, 18s to 19s per 1001b ; cow beef, 10s to 15s. Fat Sheep.—l 729 were penned, all crossbreds. Prices for prime pens differed but slightly from last week, but old and inferior ewes fluctuated a good deal. A few of good wethers were taken for export, which helped to steady prices. Best wethers, 13s to 14s; fair, lis to 12s 6a; best ewes, 12s to 13s ; a few pens extra heavy, 14s 6d; aged and inferior, 6s to 9s 6d. Lambs.—7so were penned, a good portion of which were prime freezers, which elicited spirited competition. Butchers' lambs also sold very wel). Freezers, 10s to 12s 3d; good butchers, 8s to 9s 6d. Pigs.—7B were penned. All sold readily. Suckers, 10s 6d to 16s ; slips, 18s to 245; porkers, 38s to 44s ; baconers, 46s to 56s ; a few extra heavy, 675. Wheat.—The market is unaltered. Quotations are the same as last week, namely, prime velvet, 2s 6d; Tuscan, 2s 4d; and fowl feed, up to 2a for good whole. Oats are about the same as last week, with a disposition to ease. Milling, Is 4d ; prime sparrowbills. Is 3|d; good sound feed, Is 2Jd to Is 3d, ex rail. Barley continues dull. Bright samples command attention at up to 3s to 3s 3d ; ordinary, 2s 4d to 2s 9d ; feed, Is 6d to 2s, ADDINGTON MARKETS. (BY IBIiEGBAPH.) Christchurch, April 19. Medium entries were the rule at Addington to-day, and there was a very large attendance, a brisk sale resulting in a rise in most classes of Bheep, while everything else, except pigs, brought well up to late rates. Entries for the day comprised 4708 fat sheep and lambs, 6700 store sheep, 469 cattle, and 706 pigs The 226 fat cattle ware moßtly light to handy weights, and all classes were in demand. Heavy steers brought L7to L 8 17s 6d ; lighter sorts,"Ls 5s to L 6 10s ; heifers, L 3 12s 6d to L 5 17s 6d ; and cows, L 3 to L 5 10s. There was a better demand for store cattle, and all entered were sold, three-year-old steers bringing from L 3 10s to L 5 ss, according to condition; two-year-old heifers, L2 10s; two-year-old mixed sexes, L2 15s ; and yearlings, 20s to 30s. The yarding of fat sheep was a small one, the bulk being trade ewes. Freezing sheep met with keen competition, the better sorts selling at from 14s to 15s 3d for wethers, and 13s 3d for mixed sexes, while a line of North Island wethers brought 15s to 16a 3d. Butchers' ewes sold irregularly, beat bringing from 12s to 15s 3d, and medium sorts down to 10s, The small yarding of fat lambs were mostly good quality, and met with good competition ifreezers, lis 6d to 13s 4d, and others down to 9s 4d. Stores were mostly wethera and lambs with small lots of breeding ewes. Fe6d being so plentiful, buyers were very anxious to get anything for turnips, and a rise can be quoted all round. Wethers brought from 12s 8d to 14s 7d ; mixed sexes, 13s 3d; good young ewes, 10a to lis 7d; older sorts, 9s 6d to 10s 6d; forward lambs, 10s to 10s 9d; medium sorts, 9s to 9s 9d ; and small and backward sort 3, 6s Id to 8s 6d. [The heavy entry of pigs brought down prices slightly, baconers averaging 3|d to 4d per lb; and porkers, 4d to 5d per head; baconers brought 42s to 625; porkers, 34s to 40s ; stores, 19s to 40s ; a line of 200 from North Island, 22s to 40s; weaners, 15s 9d to 16s 6d.
