The British Museum recently received a curious and gruesome rosary from the mysterious land of Thibet. It is composed of thin discs made from a human skull, finished at the end with three peach kernels, and strung on a piece of common string. A new alloy has been discovered which is said to be a wonderful substitute for gold. It consists of 94 parts of copper to 6 parta antimony. The copper is melted and the antimony added, together with a little magnesium and carbonate of lime to increase She density. Tne product can be drawn, wrought, and soldered like the precious metal, to which it bears a striking resemblance when polished. The cost of manufacture ia about 24 cents a pound. At laßt the Admiralty have come to the conclusion that it is necessary for the larger clasa of her Majesty's ships to be supplied with typewriting machines, whilst at no distant date they will probably be introduced on every ship in commission.
