Police Commission.

At the Police Commission the; Jeffries case again cropped up,-the general tenor of the evidence being much the same as came out in the recent' libel actions in Blenheim. Francis Rumsay, a woodsplitter at Otaki, attended,and levelling charges against Constable O'Rourbe of general misconduct, and that hebadseveral times exceeded his duty; and, further, that on other occasions he had been lax in administering the law. ' In cross-exami-nation witness admitted that he had been several times convicted for drunkenness, disorderly conduct, assulting the police, malicious injury to property, and other charges, all of which he alleged arose from differences on local politics with the Justices of the Peace. Witness accused O'Rouike of playing cards in a publichouse, and the Commissioner intimated that a departmental inquiry would be held. O'Rourke will be examined tomorrow.
