The Philippines Revolt.
The sensational report from the Philippines of the massacre of Spanish garrisons and priests, after having surrondorcd their arms on condition of being allowed to go to the nearost friendly village, tnrns out to bo pure fiction, the Manila papera now publishing notices that those havo turned up safe and sound after having taken to the hills for safety. Such reports mnst always be taken with great reserve. Hitherto the rebels have shown a mosb remarkable forbearance with their Spanish prisoners, which is the more praiseworthy and generous, considering the atrooitlea perpetrated by the Spaniards on their rebel prisoners, as for inatanco the burning of the wounded at Bolinno, the massacre of San Rafael, etc. In fact the conduct of the rebels has proved them to bo quite equal In humane instincts to the most civilised and culturod nation in tho world* On the telegraph posts destroyed, placards have been found with tho words •« Long livo the King and Soaln," an indlcation°that the rising is nob against tho mother country.
