AUSTRALIAN NEWS.
(PER UNITED PKE3S ASSOCIATION). Received January 19, at 1.5 a.m. Sydney, January IS. Sailed —Alameda. Melbourne, January 13. At a meeting of Premiers Mr Forest said that owing to the general election in May it was impossible that Western Australia could fall in with the dates selected, and suggested that the election of delegates be held in March, and the Convention at the end of June, when they returned from the Federal Council. He would do his best to try and meet the other colonies, but he was afraid there was no chance for Western Australia participating unless the dates were altered. The other Premiers decided to let Now South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania hold the elections and Convention on the dates previously arranged. There are indications that four barrels of Phillips' revolver were discharged. The bullets in the cartridges forwarded to his brother are similar to the one discovered in Brady's body.
