Thev were down for the Christchurch races (says Truth), and in an hotel bar celling dog yarns, when one man—most truthful man—said, '* Gentlemen, dogs know a lot; I once had a dog when shepherding up country, sent out with a flock of sheep 10 miles from the homestead. That dog minded the sheep himself for three weeks, and only killed two for his own eating ; and when their mouths were examined it was proved he had picked out the' only two mouthed merino ewes in the flock !
