Harbor Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held to-day, there being present —Messrs Barr (Chairman), Finch, Menlove, Rose, Meek, Burbury, and ReicL The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Captain Sewell reported that the mate" of the Herald, at his request, had noted the new light of the Board. It was visible on a cloudy night 20 miles away. On a clear night it would be seen much further. The Secretary said that the Board were advertising the light as visible for 15 miles. Treasury votes for L 332 8s 6d and L3ll 6s 6d were received. Accounts amounting to L 378 17s 4d were passed for payment. The question of continuing dredging was next considered. The secretary stated that it would take three months to complete the dredging required, and that the insurances on the dredge expired on April 24th. The matter was left in the hands of the Standing Committee to procure an extension of the policy if found necessary, and to take into consideration the advisability of continuing dredging. A complaint was received from Mr Middleton re sweetbriar spreading at Otematata. It was resolved to enquire into the matter and ascertain who were the responsible parties, and this having bean ascertained the responsible parties be instructed to at once take steps to eradicate the past. The Bluff Harbor Board wrote re leasing the dredge Progress to do certain work in the Bluff harbor. It was resolved to write and state that the dredge would be working here for three months but after that period would be open for lease.
