(BY TELEGRAPH.) Wellington, March 29. The Gazette contains the regulations under the Civil Service Insurance Act and the aaricultural statistics for a number of counties, including the most of Canterbury. The payment of capitation allowance to education boards for the quarter ending June 30 will be according to the working average of the present quarter. A number of extra polling places for Waitemata have been appointed, and those at Welsford and Komokoriki have been abolished. The resignation of Mr Seth-Smith as Chief Jaclge of the Native Land Court has been accepted. The returns of the rainfall of 1893 give I44in at Puysegur Point. 154 m at Inglewood, 120 in at Stratford, 123 in at Rotorua. 104 in at Rimutaka summit, and 102 in at Greymouth. At Auckland the fall was 53£n. at Napier 57in, at Wellington 53in, at Christchurch Win. and at Dunedin 54in. That at Christchurch was the lowest recorded in the colony. The greatest fall in any one day was lOin on March 11 at Kaponga, Wanganui.
