The Waitemata Election.
(by telegkaph.) Auckland, March 29. Mr Massey addressed a large meeting of the electors of Waitemata at Helensville. He denounced party government) and would not pledge himself to blindly follow any man or party. He approved of the Upper house being elected by tno local bodies, and of its being one-half the number of the Lower Hou*, but elected for a longer term. He was opposed to elective Governors. He objected to triple electorates, land nationalisation, and the single tax, and advocated t"? railways being run by a non-pplitiw board on commercial lines. The licensing districts were too large, as also was tn» percentage to make a poll elective. He was opposed to denominational or sec* tarian education. A vote of confident and thanks was carried with three aUf sentients.
