The Waimate Hospital Bill.

FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, September 17. Mr Duncan has just moved the second reading of the Waimatc Hospital Bill. He explained its scope and said tliat fcho people unanimously desired it. Ho read a letter from the Timaru Board supporting the Bill. The boundary is to be changed from Pareora to Otaio. Mr \V. Hutchison supported the Bill, saying that both the Timaru and Waimatc Boards being agreed, lie need say no more. Mr Fish held tliat no such alterations should bo made. The Government ought to introduce a comprehensive measure dealing with all districts. Mr Rhodes said that one part of the district was trying to escape the payment of rates. If this were granted the Mackenzie County and others would split off The meeting of the Board was not a full one, and the Bill ought, to be put oft". Mr Taylor concurred.
Mr Hull-Jones regarded it as prcsump tuous to bring in a private Bill of this sort. He hoped the House would reject the Bill. A small meeting of the Timartf Board had agreed to it but a full meeting had previously disapproved of it. Ho moved its adjournment until this day fortnight. Mr Buchanan was inclined to support the Bill, and iu Committee intended to move additions relating to other districts. Mr Moore supported Mr Hall-Jonos 1 amendment.
Mr O'Conor spoke. t Mr Duncan replied briefly that the district was the poorest one on the cast side of the Island.
The House divided on the motion for adjournment: ayes, 41; noes, 18. The debate was adjourned
