The s.s. Duke of Sutherland sailed today for London, with her cargo of meat in good condition. The following are the current quotations for the principal silver mining shares : Broken Hill Proprietary, L 9 18s; British Broken Hill, L2 2s 6d; Central, L 7 Is 8d ; South, L 5 0s 6d ; Block No. 14, L 6 10s ; Block No. 10, Lls 4s ; Junctions, LI 7s 6d. Received September 18, at 0.45 a.m.] Melbourne, September 17. The Argus devotes a long article to the Bryce episode in which it attributes the blame to the Speaker, and declares that had he shown firmness in dealing with the question of privilege, the whole affair would have been avoided.
