Daily Circulation, 1471. The Oamaru Mail SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 1885.

Mk. S. V. Shrimski has tendered to the Speaker of the House of Representatives his resignation as member for Oamarn in that institution. This news is startling at the first blush, but, it has not been altogether unexpected in political circles. For some time past, it has been conjectured that Mr Shrimski's translation to the Legislative Council was by no means a remote contingency. A definite prospect of the realisation of this expectation we believe to be the cause of Mr Shrimski's retirement from the House of .Representatives. But, whatever may be the reason for Mr Shrimski's action, it is certain that the electors of Oamaru will Bhortly be called upon to elect someone in his p'ace. Mr Shrimski is at present in Dunedin, and it is only reasonable to assume that the whole affair has been arranged, as Sir Julias Vogel is also there. It is understood that Mr Shrimski will explain the reasons for his conduct to his constituents on his return to Oamaru.
