THE usual Fortnightly MEETING will be held in the Board Room, Harbor-street, on TUESDAY, the 4th JANUARY, 1881, at 11 a.m. This "will also be the annual meeting for the election of Chairman. T. ON ~.nd after the Ist day of JANUARY, ISSI, the Board's charges at the Port of Oamarn will be as follows, and the several rates and bye-laws hereunder stated will be put in force. T. FORRESTER, Secretary. CHARGES ON GOODS (Collected by railway with haulage charges). WHARFAGE : General Merchandise, 2s per ton : weight or measurement at option of the Board. Coals, 23 per ton. Timber (native), 5d per hundred superficial feet. Timber (hardwood), 7«1 per hundred superficial feet. Fencing Posts and Rails, 4s per hundred. Palings, 7d per hundred. Wheat, 10 4-bush. bags to the ton, 2s per ton, Barley, 12 ~ ~ 2s „ Potatoes, 12 ~ „ 2s „ Oats, 14 „ „ 2s „ Flour, Bran, Pollard, and other Produce, 22001bs to the ton, 2s per ton. Wool, lid per bale. Stone (Oamaru), Id per foot. Slates, 2s per ton. Cattle and Horses, 2s Gd each (Yearlings, half rates). Sheep, 2d each. Pigs. 4d each. Minimum charge for parcels, 2d. Transhipments at wharves or at nnchorage, half-rates. CHARGES TO VESSI-iS. Port charges, payable half-yearly, 4d per ton register. Removal fee. Id per ton register, minimum charge 10s. Pilotage (charged both inwards and outwards). .••ailing vessels, 3d per ton register. Sailing vessels, with tug, 2d per ton register. Steamere, 1M per ton register. The above charges are payable to the Collector of Customs. The following charges are payable to the Harbor Board's Collector: BERTHAGE RATE. Inwards. 5d per ton on cargo landed. Outwards, ad per ton on cargo shipped. CRANAGE. Inward cargo, fixed charges, 6d per ton. Outward cargo, if required, 6d per ton. Use of coal buckets, 2d per ton. The crane 3 will be sent to vessels at the request of the masters of vessels and will while working at such vessels be held to be part of the ship's appliances, and any damage which may occnr to the vessels or cranes by faulty slinging, catching on combings or rigging, breaking of chains, slings, or from any other cause whatever shall be at the risk of the master or owner of such vessel. The Harbor Board will in no case be responsible for such damage. The Berthage charge on transhipments will be outwards only. "V essels receiving or discharging cargo at moorings or anchorage, half berthage rates. The west side of Jvormanby Wharf reserved for steamers. Cargo will he computed as follows : Timber, native, 4SO superficial feet to the ton. Timber, h rdwood, 320 superficial feet to the ton. Posts and rails, 50 to the ton. Palings. 320 to the ton._ Stone (Oamaru), 22 cubic feet to the ton. Wool, 5 bales to the ton. All other goods as per wharfage. "WARPS. Vessels at the Wharves will be charged Jd per ton register per day or part of day for the use of warps. Vessels not at the AVharves supplied with warp 3 or other appliances will be charged for the same not exceeding Id per ton register per day for each rope supplied, at the discretion of the Harbor Master. The Harbor Board takes no charge of or responsibility over vessels whilst in the Port of Oamaru. Their security and safety either at anchor or moored alongside any wharf, pier, jetty, or moorings, is at the risk of the master or owner, and the Board will in no case be answerable for any damage to vessels from any cause whatever, although every care and precaution will be "taken by the Board to have the warps and moorings kept in a state of efficiency. Masters or owners of vessels will be charged for any damage to warps caused by the neglect of the masters or any of the crew. BOAT LICENSES. Cargo Boats, Ballast Boats, Tank Boats, and 'Watermen's Boats, annual license fee of 20s each. Mor person in charge of vessels or boats plying for hire within the port, annual fic&nae BOATING AND BALLAST. The Board does not necessarily undertake to supply lighterage or i allast to any vessel, but will at ita discretion endeavor to do so when required, upon notice in writing being given to the Board, in which case the following charges will be made : Boating to or from outer anchorage, 3s per ton. Boating under shelter of Breakwater, —a per ton. Ballast delivered at wharf, 4s per ton. Ballast delivered at anchorage, 7s per ton. It is to be distinctly understood that the Board does not hold itself responsible for any damage to cargo from whatever cause arising, nor for any delay that may occur. GUNPOWDER ANCHORAGE, Etc. The following charges are fixed for the transport and storage of Gunpowder and other explosive substances or compounds at the Pott of Oamaru : s. d.
