SERIOUS STABBING CASE.

Through the courtesy of Sub-Inspectr r M'Cluskey wo arc informed that a serious ease of stabbing occurred at Mampden oil Sunday last. It appears that a man named Charles Mains, in the employ of Mr. J. I', Bremner. storekeeper, Hampden, on the above-mentioned day attempted to cut his wife's throat. Seven or eight wounds were iniiicted 011 the right ear, and five or six on the right shoulder and arm. Dr. Smith was immediately in attendance 011 the .sufierer, and dressed the wounds. Mains lias been arrested, but bailed out by Mr. J. K. Bremner. lie will be brought up at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Hampden, tomorrow.
