How They Ended
not been on his game it is safe to say that Alhambra would have won by a much bigger margin. Time and again Walker got his side out of trouble with a hefty line-kick. Ewart, a Pirates five-eighths, went fairly well m the heavy going, but he wag not assisted very much by his team mates. Giles, who played next to him, could do nothing right, and he is the man the selectors have chosen for a wing threequarter! Otago Rugbyites are hoping that he makes a better fist, of this position than he does of the fiyereighths'. Zingari handed out a jolt to-Kai-korai, running the hill team ,to "a draw, and making their chances of raking m the competition shield less rosy. The result. of this match was one of the greatest surprises m the competition, as Kaikorai are near the top of the ladder, and Zingari towards the other end. Neither of the Varsity teams was greatly extended m winning their match. The B side had it all over Union, and the A's also won by a big margin from Dunedin. More accurate goal-kicking was seen m the Southern-Taieri match when Prebble piloted the ball between the posts on three occasions, winning the match for Southern. These were the. only points the side scored. Taieri were unlucky, as they had much the better of the play.
