A PRINCE of good fellows is William Farrar, known all over the West Coast as "The Dean." For .some years after his arrival m New Zealand he busied himself watching the gambols of the bulls and bears on the Auckland Stock Exchange. He then migrated to the West Coast and has become an institution. For a; considerable time he was secretary for Mandel and Co., Ltd., at Hokitika, hut on the formation ofthe Westland Breweries Co., Ltd., he was appointed secretary to that body and removed himself to Greymouth. A happy soul, with a winning way about him, he soon made a host of friends. Tlie "Dean" is a violinist of no mean order, and plays a good hand at bridge.
