TRAINER'S LICENSE ONLY
Veteran Bob Milieu Wants More
(From "Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) It would seem that the New Zealand Trotting authorities, intend to work on an age limit when issuing driving licenses.
THE veteran northern enthusiast, R. A .'Mill en (more generally known as "old Bob") has been granted a trainer's license, whereas ,he applied not only for a trainer's brief, but also the right to drive and ride — privileges which he has held in. prior years. ,The veteran "R.M." has been connected with members of the light harness brigade for over 47 years. He has figured as an owner, driver, rider, breeder and as an exhibitor of his own horses at agricultural shows m thfe province; and he has met with some success m all departments of the game mentioned. In years he is certainly getting along, being m the middle sixties; but he probably claims that a man is only
jas -old- as he feels, and contends that he has not gone past the really active stage yet awhile regarding the piloting of his own charges m their v races. "Bob" certainly displayed plenty of energy when piloting Wimmera King and" Co. m their engagements last season; . ■• : The veteran . hardly intends to lose the coveted privilege' of holding the, "ribbons" «tvithout raising his voice, in protest. - ( • -• v Time was when the trotting authorities were ' pleased to cater for the owner-driver of all ages. ' The sport, however, is growing to such great proportions nowadays that the heads are evidently prepared to take risks of losing some of the pioneers of the game.
