DOBBIN'S DAY
PAEROA VICTORY His Wiflnirtg Jockey (BYom "Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) After running . unplaced m a mediocre crowd at Matamata, Dobbin carried more;lmbney than, ever previously m a race : .arid took the . Mihars' Hack at Paerba on the second day. •' Oncp he got to the front that day ho, never left the issue m doubt, despite the fact that there were three recent winners among those opposed to him. He had been up fourth on the first day at Paeroa after running out mide m the home stretch with a less experienced horseman m -the saddle than when he won. But he had his winning horseman m the saddle when he lost at Matamata. / Horses and jockeys, however, have a habit of -showing marked improvement at times, and Dobbin's display was only another example. He is a commoner to look at, but can turn the speed on all right and will be improved yet. . Had lie been taken to Tauransa it would have been a sbame to lift the money! , .... "._'■- Paeroa provided a better stalve and the prospects of a larger dividend were brighter, though m reality the small figure he returned last week was m keeping with his quiet reputation. Don't havo Dobbin as great, but as useful* , :
