Platonic Marriage

One of the. bestknown actresses/ on both sides of the Atlantic has confessed to a London newspaper that the success >of her marriage 'was due to the fact that she and her husband had always been . purely Platonic friends— just business partners. "Twelve years we were married," she said, "but we always remained platonic friends. We married with that understanding. ' ■'. We kept the pact. As lovers we .were simply not attracted to one another. As friends we surpassed the loves of men and women— or real husbands and 'wives. We took bur social pleasures together, but we remained always just friends. It was expedient that we inarrieil. Nor is our case singular. I can point to many similar cases m the wprld of literature,- art and the theatre. In the business world these 'platonic married people are even more common. One of the pioneer city women boasted openly one night, at a social gathering that she married simply to keep thd money m the firm. The couple live m perfect, accord."
