ANOTHER TO GO OVER.
Vercoe Now Pro
A Blenheim correspondent writes: — "Vercoe, the local amateur feather, has turned professional. ' He has been matched to meet Derry Clinton at Blenheim on October 22. Vercoe is now out for business, and would like to meet Overend or Cann. He is not after the champion at once and so long as too much travelling is not involved will not be asking for . a big purse. He wants experience and to work, his way up. Vercoe has a phenomenal punch and is fast, albeit a bit crude as yet, also aggressive always. Last ten fights, seven k.o. victories, 2 losses On points, one win on points. Included m his record is a draw with Barnes and a k.o. over Billy just before the latter beat Purdy. Preliminaries for October 22 will .include two Wellington boys who are meeting Rodcla and a novice bantam pupil of Tom Rigby's named Lejs O'D'onnel. Vercoe is agreeable to make any match conditional on his giving a good display against Clinton."
