THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE

"Dips His Lid" to New Zealand.

"The Sentimental Bloke," "Doreen," and "Ginger Mick" have been immor-' talised to most Australians. Fully a million people m the Commonwealth and New Zealand have laughed, and sometimes cried, over the coloquial sentiment of "The Bloke," and followed, his career from two-up player to orchardist under the guiding- influence of "Doreen." Now those cnaracters. are' to be brought befpre the 800,000 weekly patrons ot : the motion pictures throughout Australasia, for C. J., Dennis's story, "The .Sentimental. Bloke," lias been adapted to the screen. And it has been done well.

Mr. E. J. Carroll, who has acquired the sole world's, exhibiting rights of this super picture of power and. prestige y has appointed Mr. Leo D. Chateau, late ol: "International Attractions/ Ltd.," to control the handling throughout New Zealand. No. 1 copy will be given its premiere at the King's, Wellington, on .Friday, October 24, whilst the number two copy will be open at Christchurch, on Saturday, November 1. ■'■ The management wish it to be understood that "The Sentimental, Bloke," which; is SOOO feet m length,-! will commence punctually every afternoon at 2.30, and every evening- at 8 o'clock, and it will be 1 preceded with s.upports m keeping with the importance of the piece de resistance. Special music has been written and compiled by, Mr. L. D. Austin. Mr. Dennis himself, choae Mr. Arthur Tauchert for the role of "The Bloke," and Miss Lottie Lyell as' "Doreen," and those characters have only to appear fora few minutes m the film to provide [positive proof of their right to be there. The picture itself is a distinct achievement, reflecting the whole spirit of the book, with every word of subtitles, taken from "The Sentimental Bloke," and thus even more firmyl establishing the connection between book and picture. Mr. L. D. Austin was inspired to write* the special music, and Mr. Bert Royle to .write the song, "I've Chucked up the Push for my Donah," which will be, sung as a prelude to the film.
