WANT TO GO TO AUSTRALIA.
An American writer remarks that there is a possibility of Jimmy Dime, the Newcastle promoter and manager of boxers, beating Homo of the other pilots to v match with Lea Darcy, the Australian middle-weight sensation. Jimmy, who handles George Chip, Is thinking seriously- of accepting an nftor from "Snowy" Baker, tha Australian promoter, for a match with Durcy, and taking a chance at boating the champion. Jimmy figures that If Chip can put ono over on tho Antipodean and grub off the championship that It will spell fortune to him, be-
sides getting around 10.000 dollars for the match, which is more than he can gather m for a similar event m the States just now. In the event of Dime deciding to go over to the other side, or rather "down under," he will probably take with him Patsy Brannigan m the feathejoweight class. Babe Picato, brother of Frank, who has been m Australia, and Tom McMahon, a heavy-weight. Picato has been fighting well m the light-weight ranks and there are few feathers who have anything on Patsy when it comes to the 20-round game. The heavyweights are scarce m Australia, and it is doubtful 'whether McMahon would be a money maker at this time.
Another manager who wants to make the tip is Bert Connors of Memphis, who has three good boys In his stable — Art Maglrl, 154 pounder; Benny' Palmer, light-weight, and Arlos Fanning, a feather-weight, who has made good recently. Magirl has had 15 battles the past season against; some very good boys and has won all, of them. Palmer has battled with such boys as Jimmy Hanlon, Frankie Burns, Richie Mitchell, Frankie Callahan and Freddie Welsh. Benny is a Mexican, but bom m the States, and he has the makings of a fine little fighter. Fanning: has been boxing through the south-west, and has de- : feated such boys as Louisiana, Jack White, Jack Douglas, Charlie Arnson, Bobby Burns, and Jimmy .Hanlon. Magirl's latest fight was with Jack Torres, the Merican welter-weight champion, whom he knocked out m nine rounds.
