Thxco years after the knot was tlod, the couple wore living m Wellington, when HERBERT CLEARED OUT, without giving any Indication of -his Intention to stay away, Margaret searched for him and ovcntually returned *o her popple, m Christchurch. Throe weeks later aho heard that her husband was at Lyttelton, and. on going down thore, found that he was on tho point of calling In tho Tongarlro for England. Ho told her he was working his passage to London to so© If ho qoultf procure some agencies, with a view to returning to Now Zealand, as an indent agent. After that ho sent several postcards from various purta of tho globe, but all tlio letters which his wife wrota to the addresses ho gavo had been returned to her, with a memo, to the effect that they had never been called for. Th« last post-card she had from him was dated at Africa m October, 1911. Before leaving New Zealand, Hamilton told hla wlfo that h© had placed money at the Public Trust Offlce for her. but she ascertained that HE LEFT NOTHING THERE, and since his departure aho had not received a penny from him. She could llnd no trace of him, and his parents wore also m the dark o« to his whereabouts. Corroboratlvo evidence was given by respondent's brother and a decree nisi was handed down.
