CHRISTCHURCH.

Sydenham 22, St Albans 3. Linwood 16, Addington 5. • City, a bye. There were no surprises at last Saturday's League fixtures and the order on the premiership list remained. SYDENHAM v. ST. ALBANS. Sydenham, the headliners of the board, knocked holes but of St. Albans by 22 to 3 after a fast game. St. Albans held their end up fairly well throughout the first half and when the bell went they had. allowed their opponents to score only half-a-dozen pips. Sydenham put m vigorously as soon as the game was resumed and had bagged another bunch of points before St. . Albans notched their first and last trio. v Thenceforward Sydenham gradually piled on the agony and finished 'up with 19 points to the good. The game was not as devoid of interest as the scores would indicate, continual flashes of science on either side punctuating the play. Carroll, Boon, Lloyd and Kruso played well for St. Albans. For Sydenham the Bussell duo, Brunsden and Smythe were the shining lights. LINWOOD v. ALBION. The Linwood-Albion match was one big scramble confined to the forwards. Morris put m some, fine forward work for Linwood and Hardirigham did ditto for Sydenham. , At a league executive meeting on Saturday night, word was reported to have been received from the N.Z. controlling body regretting that the Canterbury Centre had decided to abandon the match with the British team next Wednesday. ' The Englishmen could have played Canterbury on July 15, but not on a Saturday. Had the first itinerary been adhered to by the manager of the British team Canterbury ~ would have had a Saturday match. The meeting decided: "That the Now Zealand Council be written to from this centre saying that we are-disgust-ed with the treatment we havo received from them regarding the English tour, especially as we understood from tho start that, providing the team could arrive on the 4 th, we would get a match on the 11th."
