B. GERMAINE COUSIN.
B. Germain e Cousin was born of poor parents at Pibrac, near Toulouse, m > 1579. From her infancy Christ choao her to bear His cross, and, her short life was one of sharp and incessant suffering. She early -lost hor mother, and her father having married again, sho had to enduro tho persecution of a cruel stepmother. Blown and insults were her dally portion; added to theso sho Buffered from continual infirmities, greatly increased by tho cold and hungor to which she was exposed. Germaino's lifo was chiefly spent watching over tho flocks In tho pastures, and, In spite of neglect and cruelty, her soul grow rapidly, m holiness and perfection. Tho unhappincss of hor homo was borne with unfailing sweetness; and whilo tho villagers ridiculed her Infirmities and blamod hor pioty, sho strove by all means In hor power to console them m sorrow and help them m their need. Sho used to gather round her HtUo children, and speak to them of our Lord and thoßloescd Virgin; and her pupils novor forgot the angelic expression of hor countenance. Her ono Joy was Holy Communion, and -there she found strength to bear her cross. At length, Jesus Christ called to Himself tho poor shepherdess, whoso life had been so faithful an Imitation of Hla own. Germaino died at tho ago of 22. Twer monks passing through Pibrac saw a bright light shining over tho.cottago where she lay and virgins clothed In white conducting a new sister to heaven.
