Nominations close on Friday for the Auckland Trotting Club's events, to be decided on October 22 and 26.

The success of Naumai m the Electric Handicap on the last day at Avondale was met with a hostile reception, although it started out a hot favorite.

Harry Hayr was warmly congratulated for the success of the recent Avondale meeting. The three days' racing was a record for the club; and this was largely Contributed to by the secretarial staff.

The two stable companions, Minstrel and Haku, fought out the New Lynn Handicap at , Avondale with great stub'bormees last Saturday, and the former just managed to win by a short hea-d. Haku was favorite.

lie Beau turned turtle m the Second Steeplechase at Avondale last Saturday at an early stage m the race, and sustained injuries to his face, which required veterinary attention. Spea'kman, 'his rider, escaped with a shaking.

The winning payments made m connection with the Avondale Spring meeting totalled £2965, and were distributed among 49 owners. The first four were :— C. Lagor £280. Donald McLean £2~45, W. Davies £16U, and W. G. Irwin £175.

Winsome, the daiii of the promising two-year-old, Miss Winsome, who won the Avondale Stakes and N\irsery Handicap at the Avondale spring meet, is again m foal, this season to Soult. Now that the great St. Simon sire is defunct, Donald McLean has decided to send Winsome to Waikanae for the 1910 season, to be mated with the English-bred son of Donovan. :
