WELL-KNOWN CITIZEN ARRESTED.
Cabbed to the Jug and Immediately Released.
The Man Pays for His Enforced Ride.
At 4.50 p.m. on Tuesday the attention of a, crowd was attracted to a well-' known t^ueea-street identity being placed m cab 33 By a. policeman, ana people wondered what the "prisoner" had done. Conjectures were rifle, and no one could fchmi of any offeucs that could be laid at the door of the man. Interesting—disclosures wore expected' on the morrow. Some little time after the cab returned with the "arrest," but without his guard of dishonor. From a statement made to "Truth" it appears that the policeman grabbed him as a "drunk," "* but that on his being taken' to the station he demanded to see Sub-Inspector Hendry, who held him to be quite capable of looking after himself, arid directed him to leave the office. That a person m pos-. session of his senses and able to look after himself should be arrested m the main street of the city m broad daylight is a serious matter, and no doubt more will be heard about the present case.
