FELLOWSHIP ESTABLISHED BY WELLINGTON ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY REGULATIONS APPROVED The Wellington Acclimatisation Society last night approved the regulations governing the society’s research fellowship for the study of fresh water fish. , , This fellowship depends on an annual grant of £4OO to ho made by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society tor two or more years. Under the conditions of the grant tho fellow is to ho appointed, if possible, in time to begin his work early in 1927. Following are the regulations governing tho fellowship:— 1 Tho fellowship shall be tenable tor a period of two years, to be renewable lor a period of one or two years at the discretion of the fellowship committee. 2 The emolument of the fellowship shall be £3OO per annum, and such further payments shall be made to meet the cost of travelling necessary to the carrying out of research as the research committee, referred to below', shall from time to time recommend. Payments of the emolument shall be made monthly. .... ~. . ... 3. The fellowship shall be held at Victoria University College. i. The fellowship shall be open to graduates in Science of the University of New Zealand who have taken either botany or zoology at the advanced stage, and have taken chemistry; or to graduates v'ho have taken a similar course at some other university recognised bv tho University of New Zealand under its statute ad eundem, or to candidates other than graduates in Science who are able to show adequate qualifications; but in all cases candidates must show that they have research ability. 5. The fellow shall devote his whole time to the work of his research. 6. The subject of the research shall be chosen, and the research shall m general be supervised by a fellowship committee, consisting of two members appointed by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, and two members ailpointed by the College Council, and two other experts appointed by tho lour. To this committee the tellow will make reports as to the progress of his work as directed by the committee, Be shall at the conclusion of his fellowship make a report in a form fif for publication. 7. The oouncil may at any time on the advice of the research committee terminate the fellowship for misconduct or for neglect of duties, and if found that, in the opinion of the committee, his work is unsatisfactory. 8. The fellow may from time to time be called upont to give- lectures bearing on the subject of his research.
