ALLEGED CONSPIRACY

TO DEFRAUD POST OFFICE SERIOUS LIST OF CHARGES. I’cr Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, June 10. In the Police Court John Joseph Hansen, alias Jim Wcreta, aged 23Neils Marten Olsen, 32; and Edith Rosina Smith, 22, appeared on a number of charges. Hansen was charged with stealing on May 28th at Papatawa from the dwelling of Edith Huggins 17s, and sundry articles including a Post Office Savings Bank book, the total value being £3 ss. All three were charged with, on May 31st at Palmerston North, conspiring to defraud the Postmaster-General of £159. Hansen was charged with forging a post office withdrawal slip for £159, purporting to be signed by Mrs Huggins, and littering it to the accused Smith with the intent that it should be acted upon as if genuine. Smith was charged with making out a false withdrawal slip for £159, and uttering it to Douglas Sydney Comrie. The hearing is proceeding.
