•* Telecram. April 26, 8 p.m.) DAMASCUS, April 25. The French troops captured Sueida, the capital of the Jebel-Drnse, after hours* fighting. The Druses, who ■Jrere estimated to be six thousand strong, made a desperate resistance, and lost heavily. The French captured two guns.
The fanatical Druses have been one of the principal causes of the unrest in Syria, which France holds under the League's mandate. The tribe refused to make an amicable settlement, and the French, with infantry, batteries, tanks and motor-lorrioN, then launched an offensive.
