The Waiotapu from Newcastle, is due Vancouver April 14th, The Waitemata leaves Dunedin Tuesday for Wellington, New Plymouth, thence Pacific coast. MAHIA FROM LONDON. Tne Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the steamer Mahia arrived at Lyttelton yesterday from London. The vessel has cargo for discharge at Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. / THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. For further loading the Canadian Gov eminent Line advise that the steamer Canadian Challenger leaves Port Chalmers to-dav for Wellington, and is due here on Monday. She later proceeds to Auckland, where she completes loading for New York, Boston, and Montreal. SCOTTISH LAUNCHINGS. Scottish shipbuilders launched during January 16 vessels, of 24,748 tons. Ot these, 12, of 16,998 tons, were built on tli6 East Coast. The Clyde .total was lower than the totals of the previous two years, but was comparatively high considering the condition of trade. . SAN FRANCISCO MAIL STEAMERS. The'R.M.S. Malcura left Sydney 4 p.m. March 25th, ‘due Wellington March 29th, Rarotonga April 3rd, Papeete April sth, and San Francisco April 16th. The H.M.S. NOTICESS.TO MARINERS. Captian J. Bollons, of the Government steamer Tutanekai, has taKen a line of soundings across the bar channel ''at the entrance to Kaipara Harbour, has forwarded the following report to the Marine Department:— “Took a line of sounding across the bar channel. The line of deep water la gradually working to the northward. On the line of beacons there is shallow water and a continuous break. The best water is now with the lower beacon south of the flagstaff and the lighthouse a little north of the top beacon. A little more water exists on a line with the' lighthouse and top beacon m transit; this, however, brings a vessel almost beam on to the sea when it is heavy from the west and south-west. From 18ft to 19ft of water at ordinarylow springs was obtained on the above marks.”

The undermentioned changes in navigation “aids” have been made m Evans Bay:—A red spar buoy has been placed northward of the shoal ground at a position (approx.) 324 degrees 1300 feet from the north-western end of Miramar wharf. The red can buoy existing about three-quarters of n cable off the eastern shore of Evans Bay at a distance of about three and a half cables from Halswell Point has been changed to black. The Wellington Harbour Board notifies that between sunset and sunriso on and after the evening of April Ist next, two fixed red lights, 6ft apart, vertically disposed, 22ft and 28ft above M.H.W.S. respectively, will be exhibited at the northern end of Miramar wharf.
