MELBA, JERITZA. CHALIAPIN, . ENGAGED. . , Great preparations are in progress for what promises to be a most memorable season in London's operatic annals. It wtfll take place, as usual, at Covent Garden, extending from May lOth-'to July 2nd. Sixteen, operas, including “Bing of the Niebelungen,” will ' be given. .Melba win sing what she declares is her definite farewell to the operatic stage, in "La Boheme.” Mme. Jcritza. who scored so heavily last seasbn, will be heard in "Jewels of the Madonna," ‘Thais/* and “Die Walkure." Chaliapin will sing in Boito’s "Mefistofele" and the "Barber of Seville.” Mariano Stabile, ’an Italian baritone, new 'to London, will sing leading roles in' "Falatafi" and "Don Giovanni” and iago in ••Utello;" Bruno Wallet and Herr Heger will conduct.
