SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

At the Sailors’ Friend ‘ Society on Thursday the pfogramme was provided by Miss I. Stanton and her helpers. There were frequent encores. The performers were Mrs Jennings, the Misses Walhyork, Bowden, I. Stanton, and Messrs Bowden, Eobinson, Newton, and: Cornwell, Miss Bowden was at the piano. The' competitions again _ afforded much pleasure to all. The prizes came* from the hostess and Mrs W. Flanagan, and went to the Cumberland, Tairoa and Rdtorua. i .The missioner asked for gifts of reading matter for the voyages, as the institute supply was running out in consequence of the many calls from ships recently.’
