MINING

MOUNT MORGAN MINE WORKS IN PROGRESS. In a recent report, Mr E. T. Jones, inspector of mines for the Rockhampton district, states the Mount Morgan mine is being dewatered at the rate of 500,000 gallons per day. The main haulage Rhaft iB being ropaired to n point below the Linda plat, with a view of using the ore pocket for tne transport of ore to be won from above that level. It is understood that the ore is to be milled from the old open cut through some passes, which are now being placed in order. Prom these passes tho ore wilt he conveyed by holts to the main shaft ore pocket at tho Lindn level,: thence by the old route to tho concentration plant. Arrangements are also under way for the erection of a reverbatory furnace for the further treatment of the product of the concentration plant. Work is conlined to getting the programme into shape, and men are being on as required. -
