BEFORE THE COURT
WOMAN ADMITS FALSE PRETENCES VAGRANT MINT TO GAOL. Police and summons cases were heard before Mr E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday as follows: Phyllis Adele Cripps-Collins, a married woman, aged 28, pleaded guilty tb’ a charge of obtaining furniture to the value of £44 Is from the Scoullar Company by falsely representing that she was a Mrs G. Williams. Accused also pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining millinery to the value of £4 19s from C. Smith, Ltd., by means of a similar false representation. In admitting defendant to probation for a period of two years, the magistrate .(Mr E. Page, S.M.). remarked that apparently defendant did not realise that the offences were of a serious nature. John Kilmartin, aged 73. charged with vagrahcyj. was convicted and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Joseph Shaw, aged 69, who appeared to answer a charge of assaulting Henry Tigue, was convicted and ordered to entet into a bond of £26 for one year to keep the peace with Tigue. . A. A, P. McKenzie, for employing persons 1 under 16 years of age in his factory, was - convicted and - fined £2.
