HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE

EXCELLENT REVUE AND VAUDEVILLE. Complications, tlirills, and explanations are tile main ingredients in tlio Phil Smith revue, “On the Wheel,” which is now at His Majesty’s. The story is full of humour and entanglements. A loving wife and her equally, loving hubby are to . go for a ride on a big: wheel. Hubby is a ‘‘Commercial,” and Dusiness prevents his meeting his wife. The lady is disconsolate, but is made happy by a dear olcl gentleman—-married—-who offers to take her on the wheel. When they are high up in the air the wheel stops—and the trouble start*. They have to spend the night there. Explanations are later sent to their respective husbands and wives, but through a mistake the trouble is made worse. After a series of amusing incidents the tangle is straightened out, and all ends happily. Phil Smith andl Nat Hanley are the life of the show, their humour being infectious. Peggy Peate, Phyllis Nicliolson, Nellie Dean, and Robert Raymond are all heard to advantage, while Chas. Megan and Mildred O’Brien delight with their dancing. William Green is a valuable member of the show. The ‘''milin.g Six are os usual a treat to see, “* =ur dancing being of the highest order. Easily the hit of the vaudeville half is Miss Leslie Elliot, a comedienne who is most popular. She has a breezy way of her own, which captures the audience from the moment she enters till the end of her turn. David and Queenie Kaili, the Hawaiian entertainers, more popular than ever. Cardini, "the magician, still mystifies the audienoe with his clever sleight of hand tricks. His- “magic kettle” trick is one of the best on record. Bella and Morris, a bright comedy couple, are popular in and patter. Bert, :ott. who juggles hats, is neat, and his turn is novel, lie is a good) worker, and deserves his applause. The orchestra. under Mr Frank Crowther, is at its best.
