OBSTRUCTION BEGUN
IN INDIAN LEGISLATURES HOME-RULERS WILL KEEP HOUSE ADJOURNED EXCITEMENT IN DELHI By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright ' Eeuter's Telegram. (Received March 9 7.5 p.m.) DELHI, March 8. The Swaraj Party, to-day at the bidding of its leader, Motila! Nehru, left the Council chamber to-day as a protest against the Government’s system of administration. The President of the Hduse, Mr Patel, caused a sensation by declaring that the Legislative Assembly was no longer a representative body He said he hoped the Government would confine itself to noilcontroversial measures, otherwise he would obstruct business by a continuous adjournment. He prematurely adjourned the House till to-morrow, in sympathy with the Swarajists’ walkout and in view of the political excitement.
An emergency meeting of the Viceroy’s Executive Council is discussing the developments. The non-Swarajjst members of the Assembly also are con-
sidering the action of the President. Some suggest a vote of censure, others propose a deputation requiring an explanation. Considerable excitement prevails.
