DRESSING THE LAWN
If your lawn is faded and brown on account of the summer heat, rake, well and sweep with a hard broom, then dress with loamy soil mixed with wellrotted manure, half an ounce of sulphate of ammonia to every square yard of lawn, and a small quantity of sand. Spread the comp.ost lightly over the lawn and work it down to the roots with the back of a rake. The dressing will not be very notceable, and after watering the grass will soon return to its fresh green state. A lawn should. be dressed at least once a year, but its condition is retained far better if two light dressings are given each year or, better still, a monthly dusting. This dees away with heavy top-dressings, which are not advisable in a warm climate. ...
