THE RETORT COURTEOUS
MR McLEOD AND MR ATMORE The Horn A. D. McLeod, referring to a statement hy Mr Atmore, member for Nelson, relative to a reoent speech delivered at’ Pahiatua by the Minister, said yesterday: “I note that Mr Atmore is still dissatisfied, notwithstanding my full and unqualified withdrawal to the statement made by me at Pahiattta recently to the effect that he was informed during the Addrees-in-Reply debate that he would be given another opportunity of moving his fusion resolution. As to the other part of my statement: I do not know what Mr Atmore requires of me. If I say that he did not know that his motion could not be treated other than as a no-confidence one, then I am crediting him with ignorance of aooepted Parliamentary procedure. If on the other hand I say that he did know, then I am charging him with wilfully endeavouring to place Government supporters in a difficult pqsition. I have done all. I can to correct any wrong impression my statement may have created so far as Mr Atmore is concerned.”
