SYDNEY COMMERCIAL REVIEW
A DISAPPOINTING YEAR. ‘ln prospect hopeful, in retrospect disappointing, se may the past commercial year be summarised,” states the report of the council of this Sydney Chamber of Commerce, which was presented at the annual meeting of the chamber -a few days ago. “At the outset .weather conditions presaged a splendid year for our primary products. In the result hopes were not disappointed. Yields were excellent, but while early sellers of Wool did well, those who marketed later fared rathor badly by comparison. “Most wheatgrowers were fortunate in their marketing, few selling below 5s per bushel, but the break in the market which occurred during " March lust reacted unfavourably upon shippers. As a result of the decline in both the wo-il and wheat markets general business suifered, and the anticipated revival in trade did not occur.”
