RESERVES ESTIMATES
CONTROVERSY NOT ENDED MOTION TO RESCIND RESOLUTION An indication that the last has not yet been heard of the decision of the City Council to allocate almost half of the £20,000 contingency fund to the reserve® committee, ie provided by the following notice of motion, which has . been tabled by Councillor H. D. Bennett, to be moved at the next meeting of the council:— "That the following resolution passed at the ordinary meeting of the council held on Thursday, July 30th, 1925, be and the same hereby is rescinded: ‘That the sum, of £9249 be allocated to the reserves department out of the contingency fund in order to provide sufficient money to meet commitments, most of this inoney being already spent on special works author-’ ised- last year.’ ’’ The resolution referred to was passed at the last meeting of the City Council at the instigation of Councillor W. J. Thompson, chairman of the reserves committee. Councillor H. D. Bennett was' not present at the meeting. The allocation was made on a very narrow division of the councillors present.
