PRICES AT WELLINGTON STORES In the main, household commodity prices remain consistently stable, and but slight variation has occurred since Saturday. Fairly plentiful are vegetables, and on sale are an appreciable number of varieties. Young, fresh beetroot is now ready for consumption, and is on sale at 3d per bunch. Celery, fresh anc(. crisp, is obtainable at from 1s 4d to Is -6d per goodly-sized bunch; carrots are in plenty at 3d a bunch. Tomatoes remain at Is to Is 4d per lb, but have . slightly decreased in price over . the week-end. Mandarins sire selling at Is to Is 6d per dozen. Fish has not fluctuated in the ‘ .slightest since Saturday. A good .supply of fresh hapnka is now on display at 8d to 9d (dressed) and 6d (whole). Crayfish supplies continue to remain firm at 3d to 2s (according to size). In the grocery department, eggs have not decreased in price, / remaining at 2s 6d. Batter prices (first and second grade) also continue to keep stable at Is 7d to Is lid. Bacon rashers are selling at Is to is 6d, while N by tbe piece bacon is lOd to Is 4d per lb. Meat prices have’ not fluctuated, remaining similar to Saturday’s quotations. Sale-time is. at present in full force, many bargain offerings being displayed, especially, in ladies’ dress materials.
