CLAIM BY BANKRUPT Nicholas Coundouris, aged 89, n Greek by birth and a naturalised American, applied to Judge Sir Thomas Granger at the Greenwich County Court recently for • his discharge in bankruptcy. Debtor had previously said that he w|s formerly a tobacco merchant, and owned 200,000 acres of land in the Near Ease at a pre-1914 value of £3,000,000, and was in receipt of an income of £60,000. The Official Receiver had directed him to produce evidence in support of his claim, bat bis solicitor admitted that this evidence had not been forthcoming. The judge examined a letter, and remarked: “I see lie was good enough in 1915 to offer these valuable properties to this country,' but Field-Marshal Earl Kitchener declined.” The discharge was surpended for two years.
