MEETING OF COUNCIL DEAN TO BE REINSTATED. A special meetiiu? of the Council of th# New Zealand Golt Association was held on Wednesday afternoon, Mr R. C. Kirk presiding, for the purpose of considering a letter from F. M. Dean, professional, who recently resigned his appointment with the association, contending that the terms of' his engagement did not .permit the council to send him to the South Island Dean, in his letter, freely admits that his contention was incorrect, and has asked the council to reinstate him as from March Ist. 191®. to coach for' tbs association in any part of/New Zealand where his services-are requited. After full consideration of Dean's letter and all the .circumstance*, it was resolved to reinstate him from the date mentioned for a period of not less than one year. The council was unaimously of tlie opinion that in view of the fact that Dean had been in all other respects completely satisfactory, and had now freely admitted his mistake, his request should be acceded to.
