SOUTH SEAS EXHIBITION
WELLINGTON EXECUTIVE MEETS CONDITION OF FINANCES. At the meeting of the Wellington pro. vincial executive of the South Seas Exhibition. held last evening, in the unavoidable absence of the chairman. Mi J. R. Simpson, Colonel T. W. MoDonal presided. Messrs Leigh Hunt, A. R. Y, Carbery. S. Najasch, F. Goldberg, J. S Schmitt, A. Tandy, W. .S. Wilson, A. S McKenzie, A. Seed, H. Caull, A. Bowden, secretary, atat that a sum of J 3750 about one-half tbe total amount required—had been sn scribed to date. The organiser, Captain McDonald, du ing the course of his report stated tb in the majority of outside centres he h visited concerning the exhibition, liti interest had been evinced, the attitude the business people being distinctly ap thetic. _ Nevertheless, the present'fina: cial position appeared fairly satisfactor WORTHY DISPLAY AIMED AT The support already promised hi determined the committee to proceed wii its desire to make a worthy display the province, and which would mer commendation from Wellington citize; and visitors to Dunedin who attend t) exhibition. A deputation, comprised of Colonel W. McDonald and Messrs Leigh Hu and W, S. Wilson, was appointed wait upon members of Parliament repi renting .the Wellington and Marlboro ill provincial -districts for the purpose of o tain ing their co-operation. On the motion of Mr Leigh Hunt was decided that, failing any word b ing received from Marlborough, the c ganiser, Captain McDonald, and 01 other member of the committee, to - ■Subsequently appointed, proceed to Ble heim and interview business people ar local bodies of that district regarding t? project in view. The resignation of the secretary, J’ C. M. Bowden, owing to the stress work, was accepted with regret.
