FIT FOR SCRAPHEAP
HOSPITAL LAUNDRY. While the committee reports were under consideration by tho Wellington Hospital Board yesterday, Mr C. H. Chapman remarked that with the programme of. the administrative block, the requirements of the hospital laundry had been overlooked, together with the unsatisfactory conditions under which the ‘work was now being done. The laundry was far from being up^to-date. The board would have to build a new boiler-house ahd they were going to move it from the present building to the old match-factory. The transfer should he done as soon as possible and new machinery introduced into the building. In the past the laundry bad been economical, and a great advantage, and with new machinery and harmony among the staff, it would continue to be an economical proposition. Mr D. Campbell said he had been into the laundry and ( was surprised' at the conditions under which they j were working. Some of the machinery was out of date and useless, and should he scrapped. ' , The matter is to he considered by the committee.
